Key Takeaways:

  • Beauty brands embraced ice cream to create memorable multisensory consumer experiences this summer.
  • Experiential pop-ups increasingly blend retail, hospitality, entertainment, and community-driven brand storytelling.
  • Immersive activations transformed product launches into shareable cultural moments beyond traditional retail.

This summer, beauty brands weren't just selling fragrance as temperatures soared worldwide; they were serving it by the scoop. From gelato inspired by haircare scent notes to custom ice cream flavors designed to embody a brand's aesthetic, frozen desserts have become the latest vehicle for consumer engagement. But behind the viral soft serves and long lines lies a bigger shift. As experiential retail continues to evolve, brands are increasingly borrowing from food, hospitality, sport, and entertainment to create moments consumers can taste, smell, photograph, and share. Ice cream may have emerged as the season's surprise marketing medium. Still, it formed part of a much broader movement in which pop-ups became immersive brand worlds designed to drive discovery, community, and cultural relevance. Here's a look at the beauty activations that have defined the summer so far.

Eva NYC brought fragrance-led beauty marketing to the food space with a two-day experiential pop-up in New York's Greenwich Village, in partnership with artisanal gelateria Pamina Dolce Gelato. The collaboration introduced Sweet Nostalgia, a limited-edition gelato inspired by the scent profile of Eva NYC's best-selling Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer, combining bourbon vanilla and jasmine gelato with roasted plum preserves and vanilla shortbread crumble.
